The basic
aim of this project supported
by National Council for Science
& Technology Communication
(NCSTC), Dept. of Science &
Technology, Govt. of India is
to develop a deep understanding
of the environment surrounding
us. Emphasis has been laid on
inculcating appreciation, respect
and love for nature in the minds
of school children. The scheme
selects a plot of land in the
school campus to use for conservation
of plants and animals found
in and around their school and
their homes.
Objectives
i) To develop the concept and a positive approach for environment and Biodiversity wealth.
To train school children for identification, documentation and observation of biodiversity around them by identifying some hot-spots of biodiversity
To train students towards practical application of the classroom knowledge for practical use.

of School Root & Shoot
clubs in four districts
of Nalbari, Darrang, Nagaon
and Tinsukia completed.
Successful
culmination of the Root
& Shoot Project on July'2005.
