Development
of an Activity Based Module
for Study of Microorganisms.
Background
A project
supported and catalyzed by RVPSP,
Dept. of Science & Technology,
Govt. of India is to develop
a kit to study microorganisms
in the high school level. The
study of microorganisms has
received much attention because
of its importance in our life
and living and also because
of their utility in the study
of evolution, genetics, biochemistry,
physiology and above all their
application in biotechnology.
It is intended that children
develop interest in microorganisms
early in life through some practical
study which are very simple
and preliminary in nature but
sufficient to arouse interest
among them. As such ASTE Council
and Botanical Hobby Centre,
Dept. of Botany, Cotton College,
Guwahati will jointly develop
the kit.
