Crop
Acreage and Production Estimation
(CAPE) of Assam
Background
It is a pre
harvest crop acreage and production
estimation project sponsored
by Ministry of Agriculture,
Govt. of India and is implemented
throughout India including Assam.
Space Applications Centre (SAC),
Ahmedabad is coordinating the
project at national level. ARSAC
has been involved as the State
Nodal Agency for estimation
of mustard and rice acreage
since 1992.
A task force
comprising officials from Department
of Agriculture, Govt. of Assam,
Department of Economics &
Statistics, Govt. of Assam and
ARSAC (A.S.T.E. Council) is
implementing the project in
Assam. A review committee headed
by Agricultural Production Commissioner,
Assam is monitoring the progress
of the project. The project
is still on going.
Objective
To forecast pre-harvest estimation
of acreage and production of
rice and mustard in Assam.
Activity
Acreage and production estimation
are done regularly since 1992.
